Court Application

Are you interested in a Courts for Kids group coming to your community to build a sports court?  Once we receive your application, we try to identify a group from the states to adopt the project.  This group will help with some or all of the court funding, working through a local construction company (it must be a reasonably priced bid) and will also come and help provide some of the manual labor.  We are looking for areas where a sports court will be of greatest value to the community and will be taken care of, sustained, and used for many purposes.  We are looking for a community that is committed to the project and willing to work together to complete it.  We are also looking for an in-country partner who will help facilitate some of the details with our group coming over.  Please fill out the following form and someone will get back to you shortly.   Keep in mind that in order for your project to get adopted, it helps to have strong community involvement.  If there are other funding sources or ways to acquire donated materials, so the group doesn't have to raise the entire amount for the court, it is more likely to be adopted.

Name      Email

Role/ Relationship within the community

Please describe in some detail the community where the court will be built.  For example, demographics, brief history, pressing needs, etc.

Please describe who this court will benefit and how it will be used.

What sport(s) would you like the court built for?

Please briefly describe the location where the court will be built.  Who owns the land?  How much prep work will need to be done to get the land ready?  Who would be responsible for overseeing the court once it is finished?

Please provide 3 bids of the total projected cost of the court from a reputable local construction company, including materials purchased locally as well as labor.  Our team will be providing some manual labor, but we will need to hire skilled laborers.

It is important to us that this project is a genuine partnership between our team and the local community.  There needs to be ownership in the project locally.  How can the community show their commitment to and involvement with this project?  (Some past examples are communities providing volunteer labor, preparing the land, helping to raise funds or acquiring some of the necessary construction materials).

Who would be responsible for hosting our group?

Please give a cost estimate for lodging, food, transportation to and from the airport as well as daily transportation.

Our group would like to learn about and experience the local culture, especially while the court is drying.  Would there be some other activities that our group could participate in that would help us to learn about your country's beauty, its strengths and its areas of need?  (In the past we have visited prisons, done camps for orphanages, gone to communities in garbage dumps, as well as visited rainforests and beaches)

Some of our groups are actual sports teams.  If we were to bring a team over, would there be an opportunity to play competitive games?  In which sports?  What level of play do you think it would be comparable to in the United States?
