COVID-19 Update

Dear Friends of Courts for Kids,

Unfortunately, all projects for the spring and summer of 2020 have been canceled and we have no scheduled projects for 2021.  We cannot predict when our projects will be able to resume given the current restrictions on international travel, flight cancellations, immigration limitations from host countries, volunteers feeling safe enough to travel and our partner communities feeling safe enough to receive an outside group.

Courts for Kids is a nonprofit organization that relies predominantly on the revenue from these events to fulfill our mission to transform lives through building courts and cultural exchange. Like many nonprofits, we are currently facing challenges unlike any we’ve ever felt before, and we are doing our best to preserve our organization.

We are very disappointed not to facilitate projects in 2020 or 2021, and we are doing everything we can to be able to provide meaningful opportunities into the future. We applied for and received a federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, which will allow us to continue to operate through June and process all cancellations. In July we are ending our office lease and furloughing the team to 28%. We will work remotely the rest of the year as we develop and implement a strategy to carry Courts for Kids into 2022 and beyond.

If you would like to support Courts for Kids during this difficult time, please consider donating to Courts for Kids operations. Doing so will help us continue operating during these uncertain times.  To make a donation, please click here. Thank you for your support!

Looking Ahead

We’re already looking forward to 2022, when we hope to continue court building projects to many of the same communities that were on tap for 2020, provided we can do so in a way that is safe for our volunteers and the communities we visit.

Finally, from all of us here at Courts for Kids and the entire Courts for Kids board of directors—we appreciate all the emails, calls, donations and other forms of support we’ve received from our community in recent weeks. We hope you stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to connecting with you in the future.
