On this trip we will travel to a small beach-front community of Puerto Eten located outside of the city of Chiclayo in northern Peru. We will work alongside the locals to help build a multi-sport court for basketball, soccer, and volleyball. We will be staying in the community, working hands-on and side-by-side with the locals and eating delicious, authentic Peruvian food which is a point of pride in Peru and are renowned for their flavor and variety. During the whole trip we will be immersed in the Peruvian culture. The community is very interested in sharing their culture with you and also having a chance for you to share your culture with them. It will also be summer in Peru when we are there!
The finished cement court will be freely used by all of the youth of the community for sports but, additionally, the court will be used for community celebrations, dances, gatherings, and even as a teaching space.
